What are tooth-colored fillings?
In the past, teeth were most commonly repaired with silver or gold fillings. Today, thanks to advances in dental materials and techniques, teeth can be restored and cosmetically improved with the use of white, or tooth-colored fillings which give teeth a more pleasing, natural and healthy appearance.
How are tooth-colored fillings applied?
To place your tooth-colored fillings, Dr. Lind will remove the decayed portion of the tooth, or the metal filling you need replaced. The tooth will then be prepared and the composite material placed in layers, using a special light to harden each layer. Dr. Lind will then shape the filling to fit your tooth and polish it to prevent staining and wear, instantly creating a more attractive and healthy smile.
What are the advantages of tooth-colored fillings?
In addition to being more attractive, white fillings offer many advantages over traditional metal fillings. These advantages include:
- Teeth restored with tooth-colored fillings are much less sensitive to hot and cold than teeth restored with silver fillings.
