Zoom!® Tooth Whitening

Teeth whitening has become one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures offered at our Portland-area practice today. Tooth whitening is one of the safest and fastest ways to dramatically improve your smile. Throughout the course of a day, we expose our teeth to a host of harmful staining agents (coffee, tobacco, wine, soft drinks, etc.). The stains work their way into our teeth’s enamel where regular brushings and dental cleanings can’t reach.

Zoom!® tooth whitening is a revolutionary advancement in tooth whitening that allows teeth to be brightened by as many as 10 shades in just one office visit. Our office offers both in-office and at-home Zoom!® tooth whitening systems. Patients can whiten their teeth in about an hour-and-a-half at our Portland-area office or at home for 30 minutes a day for 10 to 12 days. The ZOOM!® in-office teeth whitening system is the quickest, most effective way to achieve a brighter smile. Whether you are looking for a change that is subtle or dramatic, we can help you achieve a whiter, more beautiful smile. To learn more about tooth whitening, please contact us today!

Zoom!® in-office tooth whitening – as seen on the Extreme Makeover show – is normally priced at $550, but we offer an internet special of $475. Porcelain Veneers

Changing the appearance of your smile is easier than ever with porcelain veneers. Veneers are thin layers of tooth-colored material that can be bonded to your teeth to change their shape, size, alignment, or color. Porcelain veneers can repair chips and cracks, hide discoloration, and straighten crooked teeth. If your smile is in need of a new look, porcelain veneers may be the answer. They look completely natural and very little tooth structure needs to be removed in order for them to be placed. To learn more about porcelain veneers, contact our Portland-area office today!

"Instant Orthodontics" with Porcelain Veneers

If you have always wanted straighter teeth but do not want to endure traditional braces, porcelain veneers – also referred to as “instant orthodontics” – are a quick and effective alternative. While braces are often associated with discomfort and years of treatment, instant orthodontics can give adults straight smiles in just a few short appointments! At our Portland-area practice, instant orthodontics is a procedure in which we use porcelain veneers to alter the alignment and shape of your teeth. A smile that was once marred by crooked teeth can appear flawless when veneers are used as instant orthodontics. Even significantly crooked teeth can be corrected. Porcelain veneers are easy to customize, so your correction will look natural and attractive. Check out what instant orthodontics with porcelain veneers can do for your smile.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is used for a variety of structural as well as cosmetic purposes. Utilizing a composite ceramic resin, chipped, broken, or cracked teeth can be safely restored. Dental bonding can fill in gaps, and reshape or recolor your smile.

The dental bonding procedure begins with one of our dentists texturizing the tooth’s enamel; this will roughen the surface and allow the resin to bond properly to the tooth. The resin is then placed on the tooth and high-intensity light is used to cure the resin onto your tooth. The process is done in layers – each layer of resin hardens in just minutes. The final coat is then sculpted to fit your tooth and is polished.

The bonding material comes in many shades, allowing us to match it to your natural tooth color. The dental bonding procedure will take slightly longer than a traditional filling due to the layering process. However, the finished result looks and feels incredibly natural. Typically, at our Portland-area practice dental bonding takes one to two hours depending on the extent of treatment required. If you would like to know more about dental bonding and whether you are a candidate for this revolutionary cosmetic procedure, arrange an appointment with Dr. Steven Lind at our Lake Oswego office, just south of Portland, Oregon.

Composite – “Tooth-colored” – Fillings

At some point or other in our lives, most people develop a cavity, or hole in their tooth as a result of decay. This requires a dentist to remove the areas of decay and fill them in with a durable, protective material. The days when fillings were composed of a dark metal amalgam are in the past. Researchers have developed new tooth-colored materials which blend seamlessly with your natural smile. Called composite fillings, these tooth-colored fillings are strong and invisible, allowing to you maintain both the health and beauty of your smile.

The composite resin used for tooth-colored fillings (which is also used for dental bonding) bonds directly to the tooth, strengthening the tooth structure and preventing further breakage. The resin is color blended to match your natural tooth color and allows the dentist to drill away less of the tooth’s existing, healthy structure than is required for the placement of metal fillings. Composite fillings typically last about six to 12 years and the procedure will require just one visit to our office.

Gum Reshaping

Red, swollen, or unsymmetrical gum tissue distracts from a smile that is otherwise healthy. Aesthetically, healthy gums provide a frame for your teeth, and are a showcase for your smile. A common aesthetic problem is asymmetrical gum tissue. We provide gum lifts and gum contouring that can dramatically improve your smile’s appearance. The procedure, performed with a special laser and minimal postoperative discomfort, can have your gums looking their best. Gum reshaping also allows you to achieve optimal results from other cosmetic procedures including porcelain veneers, dental bonding, and even teeth whitening. By balancing and enhancing your smile with a combination treatment, your smile makeover will be a complete success. Contact our office and arrange a consultation for more information on gum reshaping and be sure to check out our smile gallery for before and after photos.
